Low Dose Naltrexone
We offer customized compounding services for Low-Dose Naltrexone (LDN), with tailored dosages designed to suit individual patient needs and formulations prepared with precision and care.
Naltrexone is an opioid receptor antagonist primarily used in higher doses (usually 50 mg or more) to treat opioid and alcohol dependence. It works by blocking opioid receptors, thus preventing the euphoric effects of opioids and reducing cravings for alcohol.
Low-dose naltrexone (LDN) is a lower dose of naltrexone, typically ranging from 0.5 mg to 4.5 mg, used off-label for various conditions, particularly those related to autoimmune disorders, chronic pain, and inflammation.
Low-dose naltrexone (LDN) temporarily blocks opioid receptors, including those that interact with Opioid Growth Factor (OGF), leading to a compensatory increase in the production of endogenous opioids like OGF and its receptors. Once the LDN is metabolized and the blockade is lifted, there is a greater availability of OGF and enhanced receptor sensitivity. This mechanism has sparked ongoing research to better understand OGF's role in various diseases and its potential. as a therapeutic target, especially for conditions involving abnormal cell growth, inflammation, or immune dysregulation.1
